| Description: If you are unsure of what level to select for StarSkate, please contact the Coach Team at coach@leducfigureskating. STARSkate offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and artistic skating. This program teaches figure skating skills in a group and private lesson format in a progressive manner and includes specifically designed awards and incentives. Skaters have the opportunity to take Skate Canada assessments through a nationally standardized testing system. Skaters who have mastered figure skating skills in STARSkate may also choose to pursue synchronized skating or pairs skating. They will be learning all the aspects of figure skating (free skate, dance, skills as well as how to train off-ice). Skaters can choose to skate 2 - 5 days per week, to align with Skate Canada's Long Term Development (LTD) Model. The class fees do vary somewhat between different days of the week due to reduced ice availability for certain days of the week. Skaters are encouraged to attend dryland/ off ice sessions, included in your ice fees, that further supplement their training in the areas of jump technique, flexibility, cardio, and strength. Competition opportunities may be shared via email throughout the season for skaters that are interested, so keep an eye on your emails! |
